Who we are

MujeresMundi Women Affairs for Development ASBL is an association for the defence of human rights. Our mission is to strengthen the impact and influence of overseas human rights gender-related, activists in the EU capital, Brussels. We research women affairs specific subjects and propagate findings, projects and events, aiming at trying to achieve gender equality. We seek out to create a dynamic network of associations and activists worldwide.

  History

Linking stories... transforming the world

In March 2012, Xaviera Medina launched MujeresMundi as an info-activism project, interviewing activists around the world. When living and working in Afghanistan, Xaviera realized there are a lot of people working for their communities but their efforts are unknown. She wanted to point them out, and so on, she then started interviewing women activists and men-for-women activists around the world.

In 2013, at the age 31, she decided to go one step further and launched MujeresMundi as a non-profit association in Brussels. Organizing events focusing on activist work, and then serving as a network in favour of activism, connecting people who are transforming the world, from a gender perspective. MujeresMundi is a team of seven women, working pro-bono in the HQ in Brussels and a representative in Ireland.

Our values and principles

We are committed:

To raise voices to protect gender equality. This means building up a network in order to eradicate various forms of women discrimination such as religion, age, ability, language, ethnicity, nationality, social class among others.

To work at directing and coordinating overseas efforts and movements to raise up voices and influence decisions in the EU.

To diversity and inclusion by bringing marginalized voices and perspectives to the table in the pursuit of human rights for all from a female perspective.

In all our interactions we strive for transparency, responsible use of financial resources, fairness, accountability and integrity.

We work independently from any political party, government or religious institution.
